Navy  Yard  33  is  one  of  the  newest  developments  located  in  the Charlestown  Navy Yard.  The  Building  is  the  latest  in  a series  of  loft  buildings  being  built  in  and  around  the  Boston  area.  The  developers  have  decided  to  keep  the  entire  building  as  rental  apartments  for  the  time being,  so  there  should  always  be  some  availability.  The  former  Navy  barracks  have  been  converted  into  a combination  of  duplex  and  single  floor  lofts.  The  single  floor  lofts  provide  a  much  greater  area  for  entertaining.  The  bedrooms  of  this  floor  plan  are  roughly  9.5  by  10  and  each  unit  has  washer  and  dryer.  The  kitchens  are  all  brand  new  stainless  steel  appliances  and  with  granite  counters  and  custom  cabinets.  If  you  like  what  you  see,  feel  free  to give  me  a  call to  setup  an  appointment. 860-463-8361 or Email Me

So  this  is  mostly  a follow up  post  to  one  I  wrote  a little  bit  ago  about  Joe’s  on  Newbury  closing.  The  answer  to  where  the  famous  Newbury Street  hangout  is  moving  to  is  finally  here.  Joe’s  American  Bar  and  Grill  will  be  moving  to  the  old  TGIF  location.  The  space  which  has  been  under  construction  for  what  seems  like almost  a year  now  will  be  the  new  home  to  Joe’s.  The  location  had  previously  been  rumored  to  be  the  new  location  for  the  Back  Bay Restaurant  Group’s  Paparazzi,  will  soon have  its  new  tenant.  The  current  glass  structure  that  juts  out  into  the  sidewalk  will  be changed  so  that  Joe’s  will  be  able to  maintain  its  partial  outdoor  dining  experience.  The  roof  will  and  walls  will  be  retractable.  Keeping  Joes  on  Newbury  and  in  the  Back  Bay  is  good  for  business  and  good  for community.

So  the  new  employement  data  has  recently  come  out.  With that  in  mind, Jobsrated.com  has  just  rated  200  different  jobs  and  it’s  time  to  see  where  we  stack  up.  I  can  tell  you,  that  real estate  was  not  number  one,  that belonged  to  Mathematician’s.  Real estate  was  instead  just  above  shoe  maker/repairer.  I  must  say  I’m  quite  surprised  by  these  results.  Our  country  is  one  that  has  always  held  real estate  itself,  in  very  high  esteem.  It  was for  a  long  time  one  of  the  leading  qualifications  to  be  able  to  vote  and  one  of  the  three  main  pursuits  Thomas  Jefferson  orginial  proposed  for  declarations.  However,  I  will  go  further  back  and  give  original  credit  to  the  writings  of  John Locke.  Either  way,  Real Estate  should  be  held  in  higher  demand  than  121 out  200.  Don’t  you  guys  agree?

It’s the  first  weekend  of  the  new  year,  and  I  thought  it  would  be  a  good  time  to  see  what  agents  are  starting  off  the  year  with.  The  answer  for  most  people  is, nothing  new. That  being  said,  there are  17  open  houses  today  in  Back  Bay  and  Beacon Hill.  They  range  in  price  from  $399,000  to  $4.76 million.  At  the  low  end  of  the  market  you’re  looking  at  Garrison  St.,  and  the  high  end  is  Zero  Marlborough.  While  it  is  somewhat  disappointing  that  the  first  weekend  isn’t  opening  with  a bang,  there  is  still  the  rest  of  the  month  to  consider.  Homeowners,  you  should  not  fear  a long  time  on  market  if  your  home  is  priced  correctly.  Homes  are  selling,  but  we’ll  save  that  for  another  post.  Best  of  luck  to  everyone  out  looking  today,  and  if  you’re  looking  for  buyers  representation  feel  free  to  contact  me  anytime.

Breaking  News:

The  Franklin  Cafe,  located  in  the  lower  level  of  Allele  building,  had  its  roof  collapse  this  evening.  The cause of  the  collapsing  roof,  is  still  trying  to  be  determined.  The roof  did  send  10  people  to  the  hospital,  but  it  is  believed  that  none  of  their  injuries  are  life  threatening.  This  is  a very  sad  event  to  have  happen  in  such  a great  building.  We  will  continue  to  update  this  post,  as  more  information  about  what  happened  becomes  available.

Our  prayers  go  out  to  all  the  people  that  were  injured  during  the  collapse  and we  hope  that  everyone  will  be  released  soon.

Update:

The  collapse  happened  just  after  10pm  last  night,  and  is  believed  to  be  caused  by  the  heavy  decorative  panels  attached  to  the  ceiling.  The  collapse  sent  8  people  to  the  hospital  all  of  whom  are  expected  to  be  fine.  There  is  currently  a full  investigation  under way  to  find  out  the  exact  reason  for  the  collapse.
